2 1/2 weeks

Scarlett you are 2 1/2 weeks old...

Things you have been doing?

You eat every 2-3 hours, sometimes even every hour.

You sleep 4 hour stretches at night. For example you went to bed at 11:30 last night and then woke back up at 3:00 and then again at 4:30.

You are a big girl. At your 2 week doctor's appointment you went from weighing in the 8 lb range to weighing 9lbs. You also grew 3 inches in length. Your doctor was so proud of you as was I. You can't wear newborn diapers anymore and have already moved to size 1 diapers and 0-3 month clothing. Daddy and I think it's crazy to say our 2 week old is already is size 1 diapers.

You take several naps during the day and if you will have a good stretch were you are just awake and want to look around and play on your play mat. But most of the time when you are awake you want to eat.

You love to eat and latch on great. You are 100% breastfeeding, although we try to give you a bottle of breast milk sometimes so Daddy can feed you, but you usually fight it.

You umbilcall stump fell off before you were even a week old!

You had your first bath 3 days after we brought you home. You hated it, but now you are beginning to like it. I think you like the part where we wrap you in towels after ward the most.
Things you love:

You love your lamb chair that vibrates.

You love being held and eating.

You love getting lots of kisses from mommy and daddy.

Most of the time you love your soothie pacifier.

sleeping on our chests.

Things you don't love:

being swaddled.

going to bed at night and sleeping in your bassinet.

bottles.

Baby girl we love you so much and we love seeing all of your cute little facial expressions!

Scarlett is here..

This past month has been the best days of my life. We finally got to meet our daughter and she is beyond perfect. We have been busy with changing diapers, staying up late at night, and feeding little one non stop. Every minute has been so worth it and rewarding. Our lives have changed for the better with this blessing. So let me tell you Scarlett's birth story as I don't want to forget every detail.

At my last doctor's appointment my doctor decided I should be induced when I was 41 weeks. I was not as happy about this, because I wanted to go into labor on my own, but knew that this was safer then waiting another week for labor to come. So on December 2nd Wes and I went into the hospital to receive Cervidal (a drug to soften my cervix). Before they gave it to me they checked to see if I had dilated more from my previous doctor's appointment where I was at a 2. Fortunately I had dilated from a 2 to a 4 so the nurses and doctors said there was no need for me to get the cervidal and stay the night. They told me to just come back the next morning to the get the pitocin. Wes and I were so happy to have one more night in our bed, but so anxious to head back to the hospital in the morning to get labor started. When we arrived back at the hospital in the morning they decided that I only needed the bare minimum of pitocin that you can give. The doctor said that I would have probably gone into labor on my own later that day anyway. So once they gave me the pitocin I started dilating quickly so I ordered a epidural before any pain set in. Once I got the epidural my mom and Wes's mom and sisters came in and we just chatted. At this point I had been in labor for 4 hours and the nurse decided to check me again to see if I was dilated any more. When she was checking me I was just holding my hubby's Hand not expecting the nurse to come back and say," your dilated to a 10 I 'm going to page the doctor and we are going to start to push" We were blown away how fast the process went. We gave my mom and Wes's family hugs and told them to wait in the waiting room. We knew we wanted the whole pushing and delivery part to be shared just between us and I'm so glad we did. I pushed for 45 minutes and my husband was the best support system I could have asked for. Scarlett came out at 12:14 p.m. on December 3rd and screamed her little lungs out. We were also told by our doctor that she had the record of the most hair she had ever seen on a newborn baby. It goes without saying that we are soooooo in love and can't take our eyes off our beautiful daughter. Scarlett your mommy and daddy are so happy you are here and we can't wait to watch you grow up, but not too fast. :)
